E. Gordon Wells
E. Gordon Wells (1935-2014) was the founding member of Wells, Call, Clark, Bennett & Clawson.
Born in southern Nevada, Mr. Wells spent his early years working on the family farm and dairy. He graduated from Brigham Young University in 1961 and U.C.L.A. Law School in 1966. After practicing law in Salt Lake City for several years, in 1971, Mr. Wells became a member of the California Bar and became one of the founding members of Haws, Wells & Adams, a prominent law firm in Santa Barbara.
In 1978, Mr. Wells took a sabbatical from the practice of law to pursue an advanced degree from U.C. Davis in vegetable and fruit crops. He was especially interested in pomology and developed several new strains of nectarines. A gifted speaker, Mr. Wells was frequently invited to teach home gardening classes and authored the book Successful Home Gardening.
In 1980, Mr. Wells resumed the practice of law in Fairfield. In 1984, joined by his former Santa Barbara partner, R. Dayton Call, Mr. Wells founded the firm of Wells & Call. Eventually, Mr. Wells and Mr. Call added to the firm three more partners with considerable trial experience – Thomas C. Clark, Scott R. Bennett, and Steven R. Clawson.
In Santa Barbara and in Fairfield, Mr. Wells specialized in tort law. He was passionate about helping accident victims seek appropriate compensation for their injuries – a passion shared by all the members of Wells, Call, Clark, Bennett & Clawson.
