Rocklin, CA (July 11, 2022) – Earlier this month, the brother of Anthony Williams, a young pedestrian who died after being hit by a car earlier this year, filed a wrongful death lawsuit against Placer County CEO Todd Leopold with the help of Attorney Stephen Schofield.

The incident occurred on March 19 at around 8 PM near the intersection of Lonetree Boulevard and Adams Drive.

On that night, 18-year-old Williams was walking southbound on Lonetree Boulevard in the first lane with a flashlight on his phone.

According to the lawsuit, multiple motorists saw Williams and drove around him without a problem before Leopold struck him with his Jeep. Williams later died from his injuries at Sutter Roseville Medical Center.

The filing states that when an officer reported to the scene, they noticed that Leopold had red, watery eyes. However, the officer did not conduct field sobriety or breathalyzer test.

Anthony Williams’s brother, Isaac Tidwell, is seeking a judgment against Leopold for multiple damages, including:

  • Funeral and burial expenses,
  • Loss of care and support,
  • Pain and suffering,
  • Medical expenses, and
  • Legal costs.

Although the accident happened in March, Leopold did not provide an official response until May 13. Currently, there are no pending criminal charges against Leopold from the Rocklin Police Department.
