QuoteWizard, which is an online insurance comparison company, just released the results of a study they had done. They looked at over a million data points to determine car accident rates in cities around the country. They ranked the top 25 worst cities and place Sacramento at number four. A similar study done by QuoteWizard ranked Sacramento drivers as third-worst in the country.

Hot-spots for Fatal Crashes

The researchers found that one of the factors that caused the high rates of accidents in Sacramento was the presence of multiple major freeways near downtown. They also determined that there were a few hot-spots for fatal car accidents in the city. The research pointed to Highway 99 between Fruitridge and Florin. The study also found that the intersection of I-80 and the Capitol City Freeway in West Sac was especially prone to fatal crashes. QuoteWizard researchers also found the Cap City Freeway near Arden to be very dangerous.

If you are traveling or commuting through those areas as millions do every day, you should be extra cautious.

The top ten are as follows:

  1. Columbus, Ohio
  2. St. Louis
  3. Los Angeles
  4. Sacramento, California
  5. New Orleans
  6. Charlotte, North Carolina
  7. Columbia, South Carolina
  8. Washington
  9. Baltimore
  10. Greenville, South Carolina
